… full spectrum operations place a premium on the soldier’s strength, stamina, agility, resiliency and coordination. Victory — and even the Soldier’s life — so often depend upon these factors … (from the TC 3-23.20 Manual)
Our Mission: Utilizing cost-effective, efficient, durability focused, performance-driven, functional training protocols to develop educated, durable, confident, and strong soldiers.
Our Philosophy: We are all athletes, and whether we are trying to dunk a basketball, get up from a low couch, or remain injury free to the riggers of a long season or mission, we require a fundamental body awareness and foundation of core strength and “clean movement” patterns. We cross-train the body in ways to correct imbalances in strength and flexibility, fix “energy leaks” caused by inefficient movement or weak/un-engaged core muscles, and promote regenerative and recovery work to prepare the body for the required volume of training in any given situation.
We follow the triage of AWARENESS > DURABILITY > PERFORMANCE.
Triage of Physical Wellness & Coaching Priorities: AWARENESS/EDUCATION > DURABILITY > PERFORMANCE
Within our culture’s reactive medical model, we too often see the reverse of this. We work on performance until we get hurt, then we become aware of why we ended up injured, and begin working on the problem, (durability.) In this case, performance is prioritized over durability, and this increases non-contact injury risk. On the other hand, if we prioritize durability over performance, we yield little production. FRF specializes in systemizing this balance to develop educated, healthy, and high performing athletes.
FRF promotes a proactive approach, believing body awareness and education is the most critical component of successfully training for results, and a key component to motivation and task-focus. These components are the foundation of the FRF Training for Purpose Pyramid, and is part of the base, Mental Conditioning that includes body awareness, mental toughness, goal setting, motivation, aligned core values, and vision.
Goal: to build a solid pyramid by placing emphasis on awareness/education and durability prior to requiring performance-based standards/achievements. “Functional Training” has become a trendy marketing term that has lost it’s meaning, so we consider our approach “training for function,” or even simpler, training for purpose.
